    Default Out of State Relationship

My question involves criminal law for the state of: NC and FL

So this is the deal I'm in a relationship with someone who is 16 and she lives in FL. I am almost 18 and I live in NC. If I pursue this when I turn 18 can I get charged with statutory rape or corruption of a minor?
So lets say I'm on vacation down there (which I usually do every year) and we meet. Can I get charged with something? I've spoken with her parents on the phone and they have told me she is 16 and I have been told in chat sessions she is 16 so I'm not too worried there. (I'm only a year and 9 months older)

in NC the age of consent is 16
in FL the age of consent is 18 but if the other person is under 24 the age is 16

I read somewhere if you travel out of state for someone under 18 it is a federal crime. is this true?

I love her. I'm NOT going to jail for her. Should I get out of this relationship?

So...you love this girl and you've never met her face to face?

Hon, this is a parent's advice.

Run. Don't walk away, but run. Find someone local. Your own age. And verify their age.

it that law "outdated" in the sense that no DA would ever push for it?
is there any case law in FL of someone less than 2 years older charged?

I don't understand how the mann act is relevant

"In 1910, Congress passed the Mann Act which makes it a federal crime to transport individuals under the age of 18 across state lines to engage in any sexual activity."

no one under 18 is crossing state lines

In my research I found this
"his change took the federal government out of the business of defining immoral. Because most states have repealed criminal laws against fornication and Adultery, noncommercial, consensual sexual activity no longer is subject to prosecution."

I'm thinking about breaking up with her after the last post. I'm thinking about a career in a upper branch of federal law enforcement and I know there is a Lifestyle poly. I can't have comitted a federal crime like this lol
