Default If You Shoplifted at Work but Were Not Charged is There a Record

My question involves criminal law for the state of: NY

Say I apply to new work, will there be a record of shoplifting if NO CHARGE was filed? But statement was signed for LP?

There will be no criminal charges when a background check is done. If you are an adult, your former employer (if retail oriented) may be participant in the Nat'l Retail Theft Database and may have put you on it. If you apply with another company that, as part of their background checks, looks to see if you are on said NRTD...you may not be hired.
