Default Probation Revocation Due to Not Being to Pay Fines and Probation Fees

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

I was arrested in 2010 for shoplifting. I am 55 and have never been in trouble. I was put on 6 months of probation and $225 a month. I had a court appointed lawyer. after I was sentenced I told my lawyer that I was unable to pay the fees. He said that the probation officer would take care of it. Well the Probation Officer did-he will put out a warrant for my arrest and I will have to do 180 days in jail.

I am unable to work due to health problems and my husband gets $674 a month SSI and $81 in food stamps a month. There just isn't any spare money. Even if I could work my husband would loose his SSI. I don't have the money for an attorney and I don't know what to do.

are you willing to spend some time in jail in case you are not able to pay the fine? Jail may not be a bad idea as a punishment since you dont plan to seek employment in future.
I dont think there is any other option. What kind of answer are you expecting from this board?

Are you stating that you discussed your financial situation with your probation officer, or that you thought that the situation would somehow take care of itself? If the former, did you reach any sort of agreement with your probation officer? Did you pay anything toward your assessments?
