The school decides if your absences are "excused", not you or your parents.
obviously, the school deciding that absences are unexcused even when they have been contacted directly and after the fact of them being excused is the issue, that is clearly a decision that is not based in reason. and thank you for speaking with only the authority you have on the subject, because it would sound arrogant for you to speak as if you understood the situation.

It is not an excused absence until the school decided to accept it as such. Just because your parents contact them does not automatically make it excused. If you believe otherwise, you are wrong.

There is, indeed, a reason to refuse to accept an absence. It is only your opinion that there is not.

But regardless of any of that, there are NO civil OR criminal charges you can bring against the school, the principal (by age 17 you should really know how to spell it correctly) or the school district. None. Zip, nada, zilch, zero. Clear enough?

And the school not only can, but very likely must, include such things as excessive absences when compiling your grade.

yet again, a complete misunderstanding of the issue at hand, what a great help.

Frankly if you've been absent 15 days so far this year - for medical reasons - there may be far bigger issues at hand than a failing grade.

But given your previous posts, you're likely not going to want to hear that either.

For whatever reason, the principal re-classified some/all of your absences. Perhaps a review was conducted due to the number accrued and it was found that legally sufficient proof of the excused status was never turned in.

Again, look at your handbook and see what the attendance policy is. You can even find it online I bet. You may find that given your extensive absenteeism, regardless of whether it was excused or no, may have left them with no choice but to fail you, If that is the case, and more likely regardless of what you find, you do not have any legally actionable options against the school or principal.

If you are having health issues that required you to miss a lot of school, you should have looked into being designated medically frail by your physician. In some counties, you would not have been subject to some of the penalties then.

    base my grades off of
They're not "based off of" anything. The phrase you're looking for is BASED ON.

Did you have doctor's notes AND notes from your parents for your absences? Given your excessive absences, failure to produce doctor's notes and notes from your parents can result in the school declaring ALL of your absences unexcused, AND merit a visit from the truant officer for your parents.
