Default Is it Legal to Hire Someone on a Student Visa

I recently met someone who is in America on a student visa, and basically he's just here learning English and something else unrelated to what I want to hire him for.

He is apparently a very skilled computer programmer during his spare time.

Am I allowed to hire him to do a temporary job for me (i.e. probably will take less than a month)?

Not in most cases. His working without proper authorization has serious consequences for his future in the US.

If you need a programmer, there are tens of thousands of US citizens - many unemployed - capable of doing the job.
