Default Can I File Bankruptcy Without Affecting My Wife

My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: TX

I'm getting married in two weeks. I have a mortgage and car loan which it wish to
reaffirm. Currently my only income derives from contract sales, which is technically considered self-employment.

Can I file without it effecting my wife. She has great credit and none of our accounts
are joint. Will her income affect my filing. Will my filing affect her credit standing.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give. Please also alert me to anything I haven't thought of or don't know about.

One spouse may file for bankruptcy without the other's also filing. The bankruptcy will affect your spouse insofar as you're considering applying for joint credit. You should consult a bankruptcy lawyer to review the details of your situation and to figure out if you qualify for Chapter 7 or if you must file (or are better served by filing) Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
