Default Can I Get Emancipated If I Get Pregnant

I am a 17 year old female. My fiance is 21. We live in Oklahoma. We want to have a baby. My question is, if I do get pregnant Can he get into any trouble even though my parents are aware we are together and if I do get pregnant Can I become legally emancipted?

Being pregnant does not make you emancipated. In fact, it makes it almost impossible to become emancipated because you have two mouths to prove you can afford to feed.

Having a child to prove you are mature is like jumping off a cliff to prove you can bounce. Don't imperil another life to prove you can live your own.

I am not saying that I am doing it to get emancipated. I am saying that if it does happen Can I get emancipated. My fiance has a job and I have a job. He has an apartment. I pay for my own stuff. My parents don't do anything for me.

    No.

Being a pregnant teen tells the court you need more - not less - adult supervision.

    SPECIALLY if that's the case.

If you are TRULY being neglected, you must contact child services.

So, are both of your parents drugged out 24/7? Not home at all? Ever?

Well, they are there.. Physically. Not mentally. One has already been to prison for eight years (my dad).

Please understand that I'm trying to help you, ok?

In order for a minor to become emancipated, s/he must show that not only is s/he capable of supporting him/herself (example: can you afford to pay market-value rent? all of the utilities? health insurance? transportation? clothing? food? AND keep good grades?) but also that s/he is mature enough to live independently.

Exaggerating your circumstances and wanting to or trying to become pregnant at 17 is not going to convince any court, anywhere, of that.

The State doesn't want to support you and your baby if/when your fiance breaks up with you.

    See where I'm coming from?

Fiancée is not a legally recognized term.

Therefore, YOU would have to prove that YOU can provide everything you and your child need. Insurance, housing, clothing, food, entertainment, transportation.

You don't have a chance in hell.

No judge in any jurisdiction is going to emancipate you so that you can go shack up with the man that impregnated you.
