    Default Step Parent Adoption

My question involves adoption law for the State of: MICHIGAN

How long does this typically take, in Macomb County.

...you've given us absolutely no details at all

    Is everyone in agreement?

Is the other parent still alive? Have they objected? What did the adoption attorney say when you asked the question?

The father asked us to do it, and the child asked us. It is a money thing and a spite thing.

...and yet according to your other thread, Dad wants visitation?

    Is that correct?

About a year ago, him and his father had exchanged words. From that point, the father left it up to him to contact him. He occassionally will send him a text message to his phone, but other than that nothing. The child will not respond, and is in counseling for a few years now. Not to mention, he has medical issues which are being dealt with.

The amount of changing of his current lifestyle to adapt to the needs of the child is a bit challenging at best.

So, to answer your question I am sure he would like for the child to talk to him, but he also feels that if he doesn't want to talk to him why force.

Seriously, you need to speak to an attorney.

Because frankly your lack of facilitation - despite your many reasons - could be seen as a blatant attempt to alienate Dad and that can seriously backfire on you.
