    Question Hiring Discrimination Against Felons

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Indiana, Can business' descriminate against a felon? I mean I have a felony that is seven years old and I can not find a job. Employers keep telling me that my felony has to be either 10 years old or they don't hire Felons at all.I mean I have probation and I'm trying not to go back to prison, and this is a road block of sorts that I am facing here in Indiana. So my Question is, " Can an employer not hire me because of my felony?"

    Default Re: Hiring Descrimination

I'm not where I can look up Indiana's laws but in the absence of a state law that specifically says otherwise, a criminal record is not a characteristic protected by law. Therefore, unless IN has a law that specifically says that they can't, an employer CAN decide not to hire you on the basis of your felony conviction. If someone else (Betty, probably) has not already posted by the time I get home, I'll have access to my summary at that time.
