I have yet to be formally charged I have not even seen a Judge yet. This case is a farce. My mother as well as my sister were arrested for explotation of the elderly. My aunt got guardianship over my grandmother in Jan. and filed the charges. Our crime was my grandmom co-signed on mine and my sister's college student loans two years ago and she is claiming my g-ma was mentally incompetant which she wasnt but she is now.my aunt put my grandma in a home and we have been banned from seeing her in six months.she now has full blown alheimers. It is a mess.My mom has a public defender which is useless ,we have no money to hire an attorney. My aunt is the one who has committed a crime by doing all this to us and my grandmother.

If you have been charged, the statute of limitations is no longer running. With a long enough delay, though, there may be "speedy trial" issues. If you can't afford a lawyer, consider asking for a court-appointed lawyer.
