Questions About New York Emancipation

Ok I'm 17 years old and i live on long island. My parents are moving to North Carolina in 2 weeks , they said I could stay here but found some information saying they could be held responsible for abandonment. So therefore now they want me too come. Is this true?
And if I do stay here and live on my own without them they still want to send me money for rent and such is that legally ok?

Are they intending to help you live independently? If they are worried (rightly or wrongly) that you need more structure, perhaps you could live with a friend or relative until you turn 18.

yes they are intending to help me live independently, they arent worried about my structure , they just think they could get in trouble for leaving me here. but they cant right?

If they were to abandon you, it would be possible. But from what you're saying they're planning to ensure that you have a safe, appropriate living environment, and sufficient means to support yourself.
