My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: NY. I registered in school for a semester that I did not finish due to health problems, and the school is charging me the whole year. My debt is $25,000 which was sent to collections by the school without giving me time to request a payment plan. This is not a loan; the school is charging me the whole year because I did not properly discharged myself from school. I need to get my transcripts in order to enroll in another school. I do not have the money to pay it in full, and it could take me more than 10 years to pay this debt which I think I should not have, and I can not go to school.
Is there anything that can be done? it is bankruptcy a solution? would I be able to get my transcripts after bankruptcy? can I take the school to court because I was not in school and they are charging me as if I was?
Thanks for your help
