Default Possession With Intent to Use Drug Paraphernalia

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Maryland

My son was charged with Maryland CR 5.619 (c) (i) - Possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. It appears as though the maximum penalty for a first time offender is a $500.00 fine. Should we hire an attorney to represent him in court? If yes, what would the benefits be?

    Many thanks!

He wants a criminal conviction on his record? Because that's what a guilty plea will do.

Nobody here is going to tell him not to consult a criminal defense lawyer. It's generally a good idea.
