Default Can a Non-Profit Company be Sued for Injuries on Its Premises

My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: New Jersey.

I was attending a camp that was renting space from a non profit school.

I injured myself in the kitchen due to something wrong with the schools equipment.

I was told that there is a chance I can not sue the school, because they are a non-profit, and in new jersey, you cant sue a non-profit if you benefit from it.

The question is; I was not attending the school, I paid the camp, which then rented space from the school. Is that still considered as benefiting from the school?

    Thank You

Default Re: Regarding Not Being Able to Sue a Nonprofit in New Jersey

    N.J. Stat. Ann. 2A:53A-7.

Maybe sue the camp? I don't know if your circumstances would pierce the protective veil for the charity but their lawyer is going to argue immunity anyway. Have you spoken to anyone at the charity about compensation for your injuries? How serious were they?
