My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Texas
First time poster here.. please redirect me to the appropriate category, if this isn't the one for my question.
I applied for a visa for traveling to India. The Indian Consulate has an outside agency that handles all their Visa requests. I mailed all the forms + US passport + a return shipping label (that's how they wanted).
The agency emailed me 4 weeks ago saying they mailed my passport back with my shipping label. When i check the shipping label there is no status on that. When i called UPS, they don't have a record of the package at all. When i called this agency they say they dropped it in one of the UPS drop boxes (i was appalled when i heard this - a company that handles such sensitive documents as passports will drop it in a drop box without any confirmation from the shipper). After multiple calls, they are not able to provide any other information and are insisting it is not their fault.
Is there a way they could be made to reimburse my expenses in getting the passport reissued / and the Visa stamped again?
Thanks.
