    Default J1 to F1 to Permanent Residency

    Hello, I was on a J1 visa which was a subject to two year rule from 2008-20009, and changed a status to F1 to continue with my studies as of 2009. Now, I am about to get married and am not sure if two year rule still apply as I am on F1 visa? Can I change status to that of permanent resident?

    Unless you have fulfilled the requirement, the two year rule still applies. You will need to abide by it or obtain a waiver.
