    Default Partial Unemployment Benefits

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: RI

I have been collecting partial unemployment while working for an employer the past 4 weeks that promised me full time work on 2nd shift. I have not worked full time yet but have been told I can pick up hours on 3rd shift of which I was not hired for. I have been offered another job that operates only one shift and promises to be full time in a few weeks. Can I quit the first job without jeopardizing my benefits if I start at the new job the following week? I do not want to be dishonest and want to do this the right way. Maybe I should wait until the "new job" has the full time work available or should I work the 8 weeks with the present job and refile? Any advice will be helpful.

If you can swing both jobs for a short period of time, I'd try to do it. Such "promises" are not binding without a bona fide employment contract. Will the second employer wait?
