    Default Steps Before Buying Home

My question involves a mortgage in the state of: CA
What steps are taken before buying a home as a first time home buyer? I was told that I should get pre-approve first. If I see a house that I am interested in, should I contact the agent representing that property & get pre-approve then?

Default Re: Steps Before Buying Home

That is really not a legal question and we are not a true real estate board.

Having said that, getting preapproval really helped me with the process. I knew how much house I could afford and the payments long before I actually found a house. Prevents all that embarrassment if you can't get approved for the amount of house you HAVE to have.

The seller's real estate agent is not YOUR real estate agent and, as a first time buyer, I recommend the services of a real estate agent on your side of the table.

Pay attention to what and how it is done so that you can do it on your own for your second home.
