    Default Dishonesty or Poor Judgement

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Illinois

I was recently terminated from my job on the grounds of dishonesty. I feel that used poor judgement in the situation and was not intentionally dishonest.

I worked in accounts payable and was being hardware by a vendor for payment. I had turned in the request for payment to my manager days before and had assumed that it was processed. I told the vendor in an email that the check was ready and would be delivered that night. When I went to print the checks that night, the check was not included as the request had not been fully approved.
Had the request been done properly by management, my termination could have been avoided. I feel that I was not being willfully dishonest and that I used bad judgement in not checking to see if the check was ready before I sent the email. Will I be denied benefits?

How is this dishonest? Sounds more like you thought it was performed when it was not. You'll need to explain this to UI.

But I still don't know why you were fired over this .. payment to a vendor being delayed? So what?

Dishonesty does suggest intent, and I don't see any evidence of intent.

You should apply for benefits and see what happens.

Agree, apply & see what happens. The state will make the decision whether you will receive benefits or not. There's no way we can give you a definite answer.

    Good luck.
