    Default Harm to professional integrity

The following is the information that I feel justifies my lawsuit. I sent Offender1 to our Remote site facility around the 16th to the 24th of May, 2006 to perform assigned work. While he was at that facility, he told four of my subordinates that I was “drinking on the job” (which has never happened and is a lie) and that he was going to have the owners “search my desk for alcohol”. Three weeks later, one of the Remote site subordinates came forward, called me on the weekend and told me about the statements made by Offender1. A second subordinate in Remote site also called me the same weekend and confirmed the same statements. Their statements were consistent.

Apparently Offender1 has continued to verbalize this assertion that I am “drinking on the job” to other employees as well. On Friday June 28th, I was having a conversation with two of the company’s senior managers. They both were told by another of my direct reports, Offender2, that I was drinking on the job. Again, blatantly untrue and I intend to file suit against her as well.

This is a small company and rumors spread quickly. At this point, I am unsure exactly how many people have heard this rumor. It took me over two and a half years and $7,000 for professional recruiting services to land this position.

Does this sound like sufficient grounds to proceed with a lawsuit in Alabama?
