Default Annotation on a B1 Visa

    Hi
I applied for a Non Immigrant Visa some time last year and was granted a MULTIPLE ENTRY visa with an ANNOTATION stating the Name of the Conference, time and date. The Visa is a B1 Visa and is due to expire in 2012. My question to you is,
I am having an Academic Conference to attend this year where I will be presenting a paper, I have the invitation Letter to that effect, can I use the current visa (which has an Annotation stating my last Academic conference but it’s a Multiple entry valid till 2012) that I have to attend the Academic conference for this year?
    2. Why Annotation on a multiple entry visa?
    Regards
    mack

As you indicate, your visa remains valid. You can thus attempt to reenter on the visa. You should be prepared to document the purpose of your entry. Presumably you entered and left as anticipated in association with the prior conference, and that might help mitigate any potential concerns this time around. I suspect that the prior annotation was for the purpose of helping immigration officers (both when you entered for that conference and now that you want to reenter) know the purpose of your prior visit and dates of your conference such that they can more easily determine if you followed the terms of your visa.
