My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Wisconsin
I have a lease on a condo that ends this month. It was an 8 month lease. I moved out of the condo in early January but continued to pay February's rent as it remained "vacant." The condo was fully cleaned in January and landlord was notified. Landlord agreed that if he could find a new renter for February, I will get my month's rent back. Haven't heard from landlord since then.
Today, I contacted the landlord about meeting and returning the keys at the condo and he insisted we meet elsewhere. His explanation sounded fishy, so I went by the condo and it looks like the landlord has already moved back into the condo. There are food in the fridge, furnitures all in place, clothes in the closet, and the bed was unmade meaning he slept there and may have been living there comfortably for a while.
What should I do next?
