My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Cailifornia
Yesterday my husband and I signed a lease on a duplex and provided a cashiers check for the 1st months rent and deposit. Shortly after we were discussing some issues we wanted to make sure were completed and conifirmed before moving in. At that point the landlord started to back peddle on things she said were no problem once we moved in; having our patio table in the yard, planting a garden, moving water lines to accomodate our washer/dryer, adding an outlet in the garage. We were shocked but were willing to find a compromise. She said she was getting nervous about renting to us, handed our check back, took all the paperwork with her and said she would need to discuss everything with the management company owner and get back to us. We are not comfortable renting the place but are concerned that since we signed the paperwork, we are going to be obligated to live there even though they walked away.
Do we have any rights in this case?
