My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan
I recieved a disorderly conduct ticket last summer (09/2010) in which I feel strongly that I was not acting in a manor that fits the discription for a disorderly conduct ticket. I was told by the officer that I must consult the court within 10 days. On the 8th alotted day I went to the court to contest the ticket and the receptionist told me the ticket was not on file. I asked her what I should do in that situation and she reasponded with "just keep checking back every few days". I proceeded to check up on this for almost 2 months to only be told the same thing every time I went into the courthouse. Now fastforward a little and I find out that I have an outstanding warrant for this unpaid ticket. I have no problem paying a fine but I quite honestly need to find out what my options are to have the crime dropped to a none-misdemeanour crime.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
