Emancipation in Indiana

I have an 18 year old son living with his Mom in Indiana. He graduated high school in May and will be going to College in the Fall. I just learned that he has joined the Indiana National Guard. Does this qualify as military service? Is this grounds for emancipation? He starts his basic training in a few weeks.

Emancipation for what purpose? Eighteen is the age of majority in Indiana.

Emancipation in order stop child support and college expenses. Grounds for emancipation in Indiana are a child 18 to 21 getting married or entering military service. Is the National Guard military service?

If the National Guard will be providing for his support, it likely would be. If he's a "weekend warrior", that's something quite different from active duty military service.
