Question Lien Judgement for Unpaid Tax

I received a notice of lien judgement for unpaid tax from Anne Arundel County, Maryland. This was for the year 2004.
    A few quick things:
-I rented a house. NEVER owned it.
    -Active Duty military; Air Force
-resident of New York the entire time I was in Active Duty.
I have tried contacting the Comptroller of Maryland to no avail. I just want to know what this is about and why I received this.
    Thanks people!

What was your state of residence when you entered the military? And where were you stationed?

State of residence was New York. I have never changed residence my entire life.
I was stationed at Bolling AFB, DC.
    Thanks for the quick response!

I would recommend that you prepare and mail a written response to the notice, and explain your situation thoroughly.

I finally got a hold of someone in the comptroller office. All I need to do is fax in proof that my home of residence was not in MD during 2004 and the lien will be anulled. Good deal. I'm faxing the appropriate paperwork in now and I'll let you guys know how this pans out.
    Thanks!
