My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California
I received two pink slips from my previous employer, my supervisor informed us all that my we would not be eligible for u.i. benefits because we were a non-profit organization. Fast forward; I gave them a notice demoting myself and I stated that I was returning to school at night and I was demoted myself to an on-call sub teacher to keep a job and the agency agreed. Unemployment granted me benefits because the agency never called me in to work and they admitted not calling me into work and gave no reason why they are not following through with the agreement. Now they are fighting my benefits. The judge denied me benefits claiming I left work to go to school but that's not the case, I did not want to be without a job or income once the school closed. I would have been working on-call in a different city where one of their schools would still be opened. I filed an appeal but I am unsure how to win. Can someone help please?
