    Default California Sublease Security Deposit

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California

I gave a deposit to hold the room before moving in. I signed a sub-lease agreement with the landlord agreeing to sub-lease from the current tenant. The agreement only stated that I have to pay x a month to the tenant and that the tenant was responsible for the full rent to the land lord. There was no mention of the deposit or how it was to be used. I am moving out and I am applying the deposit to the last months rent. My roommate is threatening to sue me and report me to the credit bureaus for non payment of rent. What are my rights? Should I just pay the full rent? Help

    Security deposits are not rent.
