I have no criminal background. I owe back child support and thats it. I am getting very upset and I dont know what to do. How can i pay child support if noone wont hire me.

    I'm not sure that's a legal question.

I question whether an employer can deny you a job based on an unpaid debt. The EEOC recently filed a race discrimination lawsuit based on a similar situation. Also, how do the employers learn about the unpaid debt? If they deny you a job because of information in a credit report, they are required to provide you a copy first. If you post your e-mail address, I am happy to discuss further.

I do know that current employees cannot be fired or otherwise disciplined for having a single garnishment. I am not 100% positive, but logic would tell me that companies cannot refuse to hire solely because of that.

Agree with Criminal Records Law IF the credit report is run by a third party. If the employer runs it themselves, this provision of the FCRA does not apply.
