Default Does the Custodial Parent Have to Report 20 Year Old Child's Change of Address

My question involves child support in the State of: NJ

When a child graduates from a 2 year college at the age of 20 and has no desire to continue their education and get an apartment in another state, does the CP have to report this? I know as the NCP I have to file a motion to request that the child be declared emancipated, but I am curious to know what the CP is required to do, if anything.

I ask because I just read several threads stating the CP end up owing money to the NCP because they didn't notified the CS Agency of their child change of resident after their secondary education came to an end. I wonder is that possible.

Unless specifically ordered, the CP has no legal obligation to report a change in circumstance.

It really just depends on how the orders are written.

That what I thought. She has been telling people close to me and our daughter that the support will end in March. For the life of me I can't figure out why she saying that when I have not filed anything. Very strange.

Oh well...maybe you can help me with this situation. My daughter is moving to an apartment in another state and asked me to help up with rent until she get a job. I agreed once the support stop I will help out. My question is if for some reason she ask for money (new apartment no job, easy prediction) should I send the money to the CS agency with hopes that her mother gives it to her. Does it make a difference if I do or if I just send the extra money straight to my daughter?
