Thank you for the input. I have contacted a local lawyer in the town who would be willing to work with me, albeit it's going to cost me close to $1,000 to go in with me. He essentially offered advice I could go in on my own and seek the diversion process and hope for the best, it was definitely way under 2 ounces, maybe 5% of that.

He then said I could attempt to get diversion and if I didn't I could claim I needed to consult a lawyer THEN bring him in at a later date to work with.

My question is, do I have a realistic chance of getting diversion on my own? What exactly would I be saying if I was seeking diversion? Do I need to submit a guilty plea?

I feel that, and pardon my lack of experience with the judicial system as I've never had to deal with it in my life, that bringing in a local town lawyer who is familiar with all judges/prosecutors would offer me better chances of getting off quickly and easily than just some 27 year old punk (I'm not a punk, just imagining what they will view me as) attempting to represent himself and hoping to get off easily? Do I want to spend the $1000 or more to get representation, or do I attempt it on my own and go from there?

Again I've never done anything wrong in my life other than a speeding ticket and I'm genuinely a good person. I just believe that any authoritative figure is going to look down on me for using "drugs" and attempting to get off clean no matter what.
