    Default Recording Phone Conversations

    North Carolina

According to my ex, she has tapped phone conversations that we have had. I am not worried about anything that is said and from what I have read, you can tape phone conversations in NC without the other person knowing.

My question is, when we were talking, I was in SC and she was in NC. Would this not be a federal law, instead of a state law as it crossed state lines? If this is the case, what is the federal law for taping phone conversations and would someone have a link to the law?

    Thank you for your help

Under federal rules, and what appear to be the standards in North and South Carolina, any party to a phone conversation may record it.

Only one party needs to consent
