Second Possession of Marijuana

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia

I am 23 years old.. Almost 4 years ago i was charged with a possession of marijuana. it got dropped to paraphernalia charge being i only had .02 grams on me.. a couple months ago my friend got pulled over for a tail light being out. he asked us questions and then asked us to step out of car to search us. i had a bowl and less than a gram of marijuana on me and got a ticket for possession. the cop told me that since i was cooperative and nice that he was going to help me out as much as he could on the court date. i got a lawyer but unsure about whats going to happen to me? i need some advice? Can anyone help?

I'm confused. Was this prior paraphernalia charge in Virginia? There's no "lesser" paraphernalia charge here. Possession of paraphernalia (other than hypodermic needles) isn't even a crime. Sale/distribution is a class 1 misdemeanor which is a more serious crime.

Any how, you're likely to see only the first offense possession. $500 and/or 30 days in jail. Mr. Nice Cop may not be much use to you in court. Listen to your lawyer.
