My question involves public health law in the State of: Arizona
I am on probation and part of my probation requires attending drug counseling classes.
I had one on one sessions with a counselor and there were times when I talked freely about things that I considered very private.
The reason I talked about such personal things was because I was told during intake that what was said there stayed there and my privacy was assured.
I asked my counselor what kind of info they shared about their clients to the clients probation officer, and he said things like if the probationer was attending sessions, if they were late, participating or not , how many sessions attended and how many were missed .
My counselor was telling my p.o. all the basic info about me and all the gory details of our counseling sessions.
Is this considered a violation of my privacy, and could my probation violation be dismissed because all my violations happened as a result of my counselor violating my privacy?
Before all this started I was in full compliance with probation, no violations and seeing my p.o. once every 6 weeks.
