Default Protecting Property From Damage After Breaking Up

My question involves a relationship in the state of: Colorado

After a 10 year relationship and common law cohabitation, Person 1 (after being confronted with an affair) abruptly asks Person 2 to remove their possessions from the rental home (both names on lease) and "go away" (Expletives deleted).

Person 2 is devastated but peacefully complies and takes only their possessions and puts them in storage and moves out of state all within one week of the demand to leave. Person 1 is now consistently and continuously sending threatening and personal texts to Person 2 that are nonsensical (talking about zodiac signs, the devil, sharing of personal and private matters with friends, rantings, etc)

All of the possessions with exception of a car (titled in both names) were removed from the rental home. The car is still sitting in the driveway until arrangements can be made to remove it (undergoing restoration, not running).

What legal protection is there against Person 1 doing damage to the car/tampering to reduce the value or render it completely unrepairable?

At this time, it appears Person 1 is not contesting that Person 2 is the actual owner (referring to car as "your car" in multiple messages).

Photos of the car were taken when Person 2 vacated the property to document current condition btw.

As the mother of Person 2, I am concerned that something will be done to make the car unsafe or that removal of the car will be met with hostility.

Thanks for any advice you can give -- my feelings and advice to Person 2 has been to walk away from the car and seek remuneration for half the value (at least) of the car. Person 2 has put a lot of time, care and work into this vehicle and is reluctant to give it up as it's a collectible vehicle not easily replaced.

If you're worried about the car, have it towed to a safe location.
