My question involves injury or loss that occurred in the state of: Oregon
I am currently 41 and the survivor of 14 years of incest. During those "hellish" years, I gave birth to my fathers child at the age of 13. I just recieved the medical records for the pregnancy and delivery of my "brother-son", whom my parents adopted. I am wanting to file a Civil Suit against my parents for the years of abuse I went through. I fully believe my mother was well aware of the fact that my father was abusing me, which she pretty much confirmed at my grandfathers funeral in 2003.
The reason I haven't done anything until now, is because my father was a gun dealer, in addition to his "real" job and threatened me with death if I ever said anything. He and my mother still live in Portland, Oregon and I have moved to a location in Oregon, which he doesn't know, therefore, I feel safe enough to take action.
I have sought counseling on multiple occassions, however, their reactions totally made me build almost instant walls and shut down any desire to communicate.
My question:
*Would it be a Civil Suit?
*What type of Lawyer would handle such a case?
Thank you for your time,
Corina
