My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: New Jersey (Ticket issued in New York)
I was pulled over on my college campus in New York for not having my headlights on (they work, I just forgot to turn them on the second I pulled out of the parking lot). When the cop asked for my license, he noticed that I had another license in my purse. This license belonged to a friend of mine who lent it to me to use (I am under 21 and she is 21). I hadn't actually used that license that night but it was in the purse and obviously seemed visible to the cop. When he asked why I had it, I told him I was holding onto it for a friend (plain and simple...didn't say what she had given it to me for). Needless to say, I was given two tickets...one for the headlights and one for possession of another's license. The headlights ticket was cited as "V & T Law 0375 2A1" and the possession of another's license was cited as "V & T Law 0509 06P". When I appeared in court, I pled not guilty. I received my notice for the next appearance, and I plan on resolving this by a mail waiver, because I am a full time student and cannot appear in court on that date.
I was wondering if someone could tell me what types of fines I should be expecting from the court. I am a New Jersey resident but go to school in New York.
Thank you.
