Default Getting a Job After the Guilty Plea

Why is it so hard to get a job once convicted of a crime?? I realize and accept that I made a mistake. I guess it only takes one time... In a way, I can see why there are so many repeat offenders in the criminal system. Is there any way a potential employee can offer an employee a federal bond to work? There used to be a way to do this but I have not found any more information about it. PLEASE HELP!!

Depending upon where you were convicted, you may wish to look into the possibility of a pardon or expungment.

As much as I hate to tell people to lie.. sometimes you don't have a choice. Especially if you have a bad employment history and a crime on your record. When you fill out applications, check the box that says no you have not been convicted of a crime and then pray they don't do back-round checks. You may have to take a lower paying job as most places that pay well do back-round checks. Stay with this job for several years until and then you will have a decent enough employment history. Plus, when places do a back round check you can ask them to take into account that the crime was years ago and you have since matured.

If you lie on an application, there can be significant consequences. Your employer may be able to escape a wrongful discharge suit by finding the misrepresentation after-the-fact. In some circumstances, a misrepresentation might be deemed to be an act of fraud.

i have spoken to 2 lawyers and my federal PO and all have said as long as the application does not state that you are swaring to anything then you can not be charged with a crime for lying.

i am not saying to do it or not but you will be ok if you check no in most cases.
