Default What Reasons Do Normal Kids Get Emancipated for

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Pennsylvania.
What are some reasonable reasons that kids get emancipated for? I am 16 and i live at home with both biological parents, little sister (11) and grandmother. I am simply just not happy for reasons that im not willing to explain on here because i dont need to be cruscified by people on here (lol). But like i said, what are some reasons kids usually get emancipated for? To get emancipated do my parents have to be abusing me in anyway? Is that the only way to get a judge to give you the okay to be and adult?

Minors get emancipated because they NEED to, to conduct their own business. Even abuse isn't enough; instead, the minor is normally removed from the home.

Did you read any of the stickies at the beginning of this forum?

The REASON isn't really important. What the court CARES about is (a) the NEED - in other words, the child is fed, clothed, and has a roof over their heads, there's not much NEED, and even MORE importantly, (b) the proven history of the requesting minor in ALREADY showing that they, and only they, can support themselves 100%.

Not "can" support themselves. They need to be ALREADY supporting themselves, and they must have a NEED for emancipation.

"I'm unhappy" won't do it. "My parents both died in a car accident and I need to legally be able to enter into contracts so my siblings and I don't lose our house." is more what the courts are looking for.

..and OP, you're in Pennsylvania - which does not have an emancipation statute. Teens in PA would have to follow the county regulations, which of course might vary greatly by county.

In other words, "normal" kids DON'T get emancipated. It's not MEANT for "normal" kids. Kids who are millionaires, kids who have lost both parents, and exceptional kids who are of very advanced maturity such that they have stellar school records and are already earning income to alread be supporting themselves have the only real shot. Beyond that, the court isn't going to consider it.
