My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: DC
I received a ticket as a result of the traffic cameras, for going through a red light. I was trying to merge into the main lane to my right, which still had a green light. The light above my lane was yellow. What i ended up doing, was merging in the middle of the intersection (due to traffic in right lane), where the yellow arrow had turned red. I did move into the green lane and go straight.
My question is, does it make sense trying to appeal the violation, asking for a reduction on the fine ($150), indicating I did not in fact turn left and go through a red turning light (which is what the violation is for.) OR...is merging in the intersection, a worse violation than running a red light? Any help would be much appreciated!
