My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Maine.
I have been thinking about getting emancipated for a while now. I'm 16 and I live with my grandparents who are also my guardians. They are 70 and 71, and they are sending me to all kinds of different places because they don't want to 'deal' with me, but they won't let me go live with other family members. They also refuse to give up guardianship of me. I'm going to be going to my 5th high school in a couple weeks, and I'm only a sophomore. They think that they are helping me, but they really aren't. I really want to get my diploma, but the way they are sending me off to all of these different places, I'm not sure I'll be able to (I barely have any credits). I know that when someone wants to get emancipated, they have to have a job and a place to stay, but I am never in one place long enough to keep a job, so I'm not even trying anymore. Is there anyway that I would be able to get emancipated? Should I get emancipated? Please help!
