Thumbs up Should the constitutional conventions be codified into the Australian Constitution?

I would like to know if the constitutional conventions should be codified into the Australian Constitution?

Based on my opinions, i feel that it should be codified. Some of the reasons why i think it should be is to ensure a fair trial, to avoid conflict between Senate and the House of Representatives, to ensure political stability, etc.I would very much like to hear your opinions on this topic. Thank you for your time, and hope to get a reply.

It should be constitutional conventions adopted from the British Westminster System. These conventions are also known as unwritten laws.

Conventions should be codified as it allows no debate on wheter it should be followed or not. Take for example, in 1975 *Im not so sure on the year*, a supply bill was blocked in Aust.. Thus, the parliament was abolished and a re-election occured. However, the main point here is that the reason behind the blocked supply bill is that they werent following the BWS. In laymans terms, if it's stated in the library BE SILENT, would you be silent? Now, in the similar situation, remove the signs of BE SILENT, would you still be silent? As for me, I wouldn't. Thus, it's preety safe to say, conventions should be codified into the constitution. Regards.

it should, lets say by codifying the convention Judicial Independance, this will ensure a 100% that the judges must abide by it.If they don't, they'll be punished accordingly. This will ensure fair trial, and therefore people will have more confidence towards judges

Conventions should be codified to prevent ambiguity and to give a clear outline of how the constitutional system works, in the same time it will also ensure the Governor General will or rather must take advise from the Prime Minister, who clearly has a better understanding and knowledge about his government and country. By codifying constitution, we will also ensure that the Upper House will not block supply bill. As what happened in the 1975 crisis.

In my opinion i consider that constitutional conventions should be codified. This is because if the conventions are codified, people can be more trustful of the gvernment and this will be more convincing to the people as the government will run the country even more efficiently

Yes, i think that all constitutional conventions should be written in black and white to make sure that no misunderstandings occur. For the government in Australia to run smoothly, they should make sure that contstitutional conventions are codified so that some people cannot make excuses not to follow these 'traditions'.
