Default Are fathers at a disadvantage?

Hi I'm Sonya, a Malaysian student studying in the South Australian Matriculation programme. I am currently studying family law and we are required to do a legal civic participation task. My question is : Are fathers at a disadvantage during parental proceedings? If anyone could tell me if fathers face any prejudices when it comes to gaining custodial and visitation rights when compared to mothers, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! If anyone has any queries, please message or email me.

This would vary significantly by country. In some nations which follow Shari'a law, unless he chooses not to exercise the right, upon divorce the father gets custody.
