My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Texas
I was pulled over on 12/10/10 and received tickets for speeding (75/65), expired inspection, and driving with an expired license (10/28/08). I'm trying to get my license renewed to have the ticket dismissed, but I don't have enough acceptable forms of ID. My safe was stolen from my home last year, which contained my birth certificate. I tried to get a certified copy online, but I need a valid license to do that. I also don't have any immediate family members I can contact. I have been calling all of the local DPS locations for days, to ask them what other forms of ID they can accept, but haven't been able to get through.
Other forms of ID I can provide include my Social Security card, voter registration card, vehicle title & insurance policy, tax returns, lease, utility & phone bills, and employment check stubs. Should I just go to the DPS with every piece of ID I can find, wait in line for hours, and hope for the best?
My court appearance date is 01/07/11, so I don't have much time to get everything done. Would requesting a Motion for Continuance for my appearance date be appropriate, and how would I go about doing that?
Thank you for your time.
