Default Statute of Limitations in California

Hi what is the Statue of Limitations on medical bills in California ? My boyfriend had medical coverage at the time of service but the insurance company never paid. They are almost six years old. What would be the best way to go about getting them paid and off of his credit reports?

The limitations period is probably four years. If in fact they should have been paid by the insurance company, try having the collection firm resubmit the bills to the insurer. Collection agencies are often happy to do this, as is can be an easy way to get payment (and thus collect their fee).

thank you. Is there a proper letter format to request the original bill for my record keping as well? And would this be the the collection agency or the original medical provider?
