Default Utility Deposit Unclaimed Funds in My Ex-Wife's Name, She Died in February

My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: SC

While I was still married to my Ex-wife we rented a home in SC for a short period. We were living in Alabama and moving to SC. She rented the home in her name and the utility's were in her name since I was still working and selling our house in AL.

After we bought a new home I didn't realize she didn't get the deposits back and they have been turned over to the state unclaimed funds. She died last February, we have been divorced for 6 years.

Can I legally claim the funds? It adds up to about $300 in separate deposits.

From what you've told us so far, her estate has a claim to the funds but you're not her legal heir.
