My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
I was charged with domestic violence battery in July for biting my boyfriend (long story, not really part of my question).
Now, I go to a horrible meeting once a week with other women domestic batterers who all seem to be victims. Some of them come in weekly with black eyes, missing teeth, etc, but believe they are unable to call the police on their "victim" because of the no violent contact order...is this true? Of course, many of them believe they cannot leave because of children, most of their husbands won't let them drive, and keep their documents (drivers license, etc)...So, is it true? These women are just helpless and the men who had them arrested get a year of free beatings?
