    Default Bankruptcy and Sponsoring

I've researched this issue and may have an idea of the answer, but I just want a concrete or a more accurate answer.

If a Citizen were to sponsor his family (sons and wife) into the US, but files for bankruptcy - is he still able to continue the sponsorship without a problem? I've read that it may affect affidavit of support to a certain degree, but that the sponsor can only obtain a co-sponsor and that it should be fine. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advanced.

I suspect it's a matter of timing. If you're filing out the affidavit and going into bankruptcy that's going to require a lot of explaining. If he's coming out of bankruptcy and can show income and the remainder of the debt is manageable, then that is another story.
