    Default Carpet Cleaning Requirements

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: CA

I'm leaving my apartment after sixteen years. The carpet is of course worn out and needs to be replaced. Am I still required to have it cleaned after this amount of time?

You shouldn't but to avoid a hassle, ask your LL. If they chose to not replace the carpet, they can hold you liable for cleaning costs.
