My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Michigan
I'll try to be a brief as possible...I have worked for a company since 2001 with no problems what-so-ever until 2007. My boss retired and a co-worker bought the business and things started to go haywire. My new boss hired a manager (which we never had before), who happened to be a personal family friend without any experience of the existing business. This manager had told me on several occasions that my new boss and his spouse didn't like certain people at all and wanted them out of the company. He told me that they were going to force out a female by cutting her hours in half. They did, she quit. She had been with the company for 2 years and was 47 years old. Next, they fired a man who had been with the company for over 30 years and he was 52 years old. Then they cut another man's hours in half, he has been with the company for 12 years and is 57 years old. They said this was all due to the economy, but yet they hired 3 people...all under the age of 40. Just the other day there was a team meeting and I was accused of numerous things and I was told that I needed to go on Hormone Replacement Therapy. ( I had surgery 4 years prior) I have been with the company for 10 years and I am 46 years old.
I have been documenting things for 3 years to protect myself in case needed. Does anyone see a pattern here? Is is this all my imagination?
Thank You in advance for your help.
